A cannon in the courtyard

De André is another of the prominent members from the group of legendary Italian songwriters, a singer-songwriter who already has his deserved place in the history books. Just to make an example, his last album “Anime salve” (Saved souls) – a real masterpiece of music – featured a song, the last one in the tracklist, with words such as “the majority stands, like a illness, like a misfortune, like anesthesia”. It was the year 1996, and fourteen years later such words are still fitting like a velvet glove to describe the ongoing situation in Italy. And in such a situation we can cite De André again, by saying all we can do is to get ready to have “a cannon in the courtyard” against the “terrifying peace” imposed by the dictatorship of the majority.

Eclipse

There is no dark side of the moon really...
All that you touch, all that you see
All that you taste, all you feel.
All that you love, all that you hate
All you distrust, all you save.
All that you give, all that you deal
All that you buy, beg, borrow or steal.
All you create, all you destroy
All that you do, all that you say.
All that you eat and everyone you meet
All that you slight and everyone you fight.
All that is now, all that is gone
All that's to come and everything
under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
