After a self-imposed December songwriting exile in the Catalan hills and a few months of recording sessions, I am happy to announce the new album SOUTHERN LIGHTS.
Release date will be 4 August 2017, through the usual Web channels of mine: first on the official Bandcamp website http://angeloromano.bandcamp.com, then all the rest – Spotify and all, basically. Album release will also be followed by a handful of European live dates I will announce in the coming weeks.
“Southern Lights” features twelve songs, five of which in Sicilian language. For this album, Angelo Romano (guitar, vocals, ukulele bass and synthesizers) has also been joined by additional instrumentalists and artists: María Borrell on cello and Nacho López on violin, plus smaller additional contributions of Juan Manuel Castrillo as sound art collaborator and Davy Lyons, who sings backing vocals on one of the tunes.
“Duminica” (Sicilian language for “Sunday”, in case you’re wondering) is the first single and the opening track of the album:
- Angelo Romano: lead vocals, guitars, bass ukulele, backing vocals, synthesizer, synthpad, field recordings, album production, mixing and mastering, original artwork
- María Borrell: cello
- Nacho López: violin
- Juan Manuel Castrillo: sound art collaboration, field recordings on “Na cusciuliata pû mari”
- Davy Lyons: backing vocals on “The Great Void”
Recorded by Mariano Toledano at Akrasonic Productions (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat). Additional recordings made at Angelo’s basement (Barcelona).
All songs written by Angelo Romano.
With special thanks to Oliver Hasse for his production support throughout the mixing process.
