Angelo Romano Angelo Romano is a Sicilian singer-songwriter who spent the better part of fifteen years abroad (Berlin, the Netherlands, Barcelona), during which he developed a penchant for Mediterranean folk melodies and a taste for off-kilter poetry, all of it stitched to an inappropriate Northern European punk-rock attitude. He sings in English, Italian and Sicilian, plays guitar, ukulele, piano and synthesizers, and carries himself on stage as if he'd just come back from a long espresso-fuelled residency in a Palermo basement. Critics tend to reach for Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Rino Gaetano. None of them quite fits, and that is the point! After the pandemic-driven Berlin-inspired The New New Normal (2021), the Sicilian-language EP The Sicilian, and La Repubblica del Bilocale (2024), his first album in Italian, caustic and tender in equal parts, Romano returns in 2027 with The Dog Is Dead, his most restless record yet: a major turn toward indie rock, built on nervous guitars, post-punk basslines and lyrics that drift somewhere between the surreal and the lysergic. Lead single Zig Zag Žižek, out on 11 September 2026, is an unlikely homage to the Slovenian philosopher that was written in fifteen minutes in a Berlin bar, which tells you most of what you need to know about it. The Dog Is Dead is the final proof of Angelo Romano's trademark mix: surreal humour, politically incorrect social commentary and a particular kind of melancholy that can only come from the words of a Sicilian with a medically diagnosed vitamin D deficiency. info@angeloromano.com https://angeloromano.com/en/
